Day 2 aboard Utopia of the Seas: Royal Railway, Aqua80Too, Nassau and More

Intro

After an action-packed first day escaping New York’s cold and exploring the vibrant decks of Utopia of the Seas, Day 2 arrived with a whole new wave of excitement. We pulled into our very first port of call: Nassau, Bahamas!

While the ship docked alongside crystal-clear turquoise waters, I had a stacked agenda lined up: from hunting down hidden-gem breakfast spots on board to catching a sneak peek of Royal Caribbean’s brand-new Royal Beach Club on Paradise Island. Throw in a trip back to the Wild West for dinner and an electric evening at the AquaTheater, and Day 2 was set to be an absolute whirlwind.

Day 02: Boardwalk

It was the Day 02 of my solo trip in Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas, and I had to make the most of it. While the ship was arriving to our first destination, Nassau, Bahamas, I was looking for coffee at the Starbucks, and then breakfast, since it is included, at Johnny Rockets.

Located in the Boardwalk area, many people do not know that Johnny Rockets has included breakfast for all guests, but please confirm this before making any breakfast decision.

Here is everything located on the Boardwalk:

Dining & Casual Eats

• Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade: A massive venue lined with dozens of TVs streaming live sports, serving craft beer, wings, and classic arcade games.
• Dog House: A complimentary, fast-casual counter serving a variety of artisanal hot dogs, sausages, and toppings.
• Boardwalk Donut Shop: A quick stop for fresh daily donuts and coffee to kick off the morning.

Entertainment & Attractions

• AquaTheater: The grand, open-air amphitheater at the back of the ship where high-diving, acrobatic shows like Aqua80Too take place against the backdrop of the ocean.
• Hand-Carved Carousel: A classic, full-sized wooden carousel that is complimentary for guests of all ages.
• The Ultimate Abyss Exits: The landing zone for the twin dry slides that drop riders down 10 decks from the Pool Deck (Deck 16) directly onto the Boardwalk.

Shopping & Guest Amenities

• Boardwalk Candy & Ice Cream Shop: A colorful venue packed with bulk candy, novelty treats, and ice cream scoops.
• Boardwalk Retail Shops: Boutiques offering cruise merchandise, beach apparel, and souvenirs.

I love this area of the cruise, it’s always so chill but busy later in the day, especially when the AquaTeather has some show happening. Sat down at Johnny Rockets, and this is their breakfast menu:

I picked the Cheese Bacon Lovers, and added a side of sausages. Also, Orange Juice, and the cold brew with almond milk and 2 pumps of mocha, I had already ordered in Starbucks earlier lol.

Breakfast was pretty good, and now I had to start getting ready for the day, not without seeing this beautiful model of the Utopia of the Seas ship.

Royal Beach Club Paradise Island: A preview

As we were docking in Nassau, Bahamas, I started to see my destination for the day, and one of the reasons I booked this specific cruise on these days.

Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas, is Royal Caribbean’s exclusive, 17-acre beach destination. Accessible via a short water taxi ride, the island blend of vibrant local Bahamian culture and relaxed luxury is divided into distinct zones: peaceful Chill Beach, scenic Paradise Beach, and energetic Party Cove.

Guests enjoy two pristine white-sand beaches, three temperature-controlled pools, ten lively bars, highlighted by The Floating Flamingo, the world’s largest swim-up bar, and complimentary island dining across three beach grills. With loungers, live music, local artisan shops, and private cabana upgrades, it offers an all-inclusive paradise tailored for every traveler.

It looks very interesting, and having been to Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay, I was excited to see what they did to this piece of land.

The water looked so good also in this area, and it seems that’s where the ferry go from the cruise port.

Exploring the ship before heading out

While I was excited for my excursion into Royal Caribbean’s newest addition in Nassau, I kept exploring the ship this morning, since it was my first one during this voyage. For example, in Deck 16 I was able to see the FlowRider. I do not think I will ever go in that lol.

And from here, there was a nice view of the Aqua Theater where I was planning to come later today. Yeah, busy day full of things to do.

Passed by The Ultimate Abyss, also on Deck 16, and although I love roller coasters and things like that, I was a little bit scared of this attraction. Maybe later in the trip I would get on it?

Disney Dream and Sky Princess were in Nassau as well. It was a busy day at this port. But regardless, I had been on the Disney Dream before. I have never sailed with Princess but never say never.

But from here, we were not only able to see all these ships stationed in the port, but also the newly renovated Nassau Cruise Port. Having come here so many times in the last years, I saw how it evolved, and I can say it looks so good now. I would get back down there later on after my excursion.

On the same deck, El Loco Fresh and Cantina Fresca had the included offerings for anyone looking for Mexican inspired foods and drinks.

The AquaDunes play area seemed like a hit with so many kids running around with their parents.

And also catered to younger audiences, but I guess to anyone, is the Arcade. Very good looking and modern on this ship.

Now, going down to the Deck 15, The Mason Jar was the addition to this ship that I had not tried before. Inspired on Southern food, I was wondering if I could sneak in a visit to this acclaimed restaurant.

Royal Railway Utopia Station

After a long day at the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, I came back into my stateroom at around 4:00 PM, and there was a dog waiting for me on my bed.

But the main goal right now was to get to Royal Railway Utopia Station, the new addition to this family of cruises.

Royal Railway — Utopia Station aboard Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas is the cruise line’s first-ever immersive, train-themed restaurant at sea. Designed to resemble a late 19th-century railway depot, the station leads guests into custom train cars equipped with simulated motion and digital “windows” that project dynamic landscapes.

The experience pairs interactive Wild West storytelling, complete with train conductors, interactive actors, and lurking bandits, with a multi-course meal featuring classic American fare like braised short ribs and themed cocktails. It blends fine dining with themed-entertainment theater, giving passengers the illusion of traveling the American frontier without leaving the ship.

They welcomed us with a drink to clear the palette.

I felt like I was transported to a theme park, with this being an attraction/restaurant.

They even gave tickets and everything while we waited to be seated. I found this spot after a couple of cancellations, but it was sold out when I first checked. I felt lucky and I had to take advantage of it.

The menu tries to satisfy most palettes, and it is in some way a home run. I like the variety and the sophistication for a restaurant set in the old west.

The train started moving after a demonstration, and the screens started showing the beautiful scenery of the old west. We were given a map that we could follow as well. I was seated with a lady that was in the Pinnacle Club, and a couple in front of us. The lady in the couple left the minute the screens started “moving”. So yeah, if you area motion sensitive I would advise against this experience. She almost threw off.

We got some included pre-appetizers during the order time.

We all got Outlaw Bread Cart to be shared, and the dips were a little bit spicy so be careful with them. The bread itself was delicious. The pretzel one was my favorite.

For starter I got the Old West Empanada Trio. And yeah, I did not make a mistake. They all were amazing. I loved the BBQ Pork one. Very inventive addition.

Live entertainment is essential, but I feel I did not enjoy the show that much. Yes, it is broken into sections, basically in between courses, but being interrupted, especially in such a tight space where you’re almost forced to participate, that’s not for me. Fortunately, the ambience, the food, the movement of the train, and the exterior scenes made up for it.

For the main course I got the Baked River Trout because of course I would get the fish, but they highly recommended the Braised Short Ribs. And no, this is not like other restaurants in Royal Caribbean, where you can get multiple dishes. You gotta know what you’re going to pick.

Finally, for dessert I got the Denver Gold Bar. It was very rich and creamy, a perfect way to finish this experience. Overall, I like it. When I get to Legend of the Seas, the new RCL ship, I will definitely get in their version of the Royal Railway.

Aqua80Too

The evening had arrived, and now I was getting to Aqua80Too in the AquaTeather.

Aqua80Too aboard Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas is a high-energy aquatic production performed at the open-air, ocean-facing AquaTheater. Serving as the sequel to the popular Aqua80 show, this spectacle fuses a soundtrack of iconic 1980s pop and rock anthems with extreme acrobatics, synchronized swimming, and slacklining.

Performers execute high-flying maneuvers, 3D aerial stunts, and synchronized dives into the deepest pool at sea, featuring platform drops from nearly 30 feet up. Dynamic dancing fountains, vivid neon lighting, and dramatic visual effects complement the music, delivering a nostalgic, action-packed theater experience right at the ship’s stern. Just look a those bodies!

Phenomenal show, I would recommend!

And there also in the Boardwalk, you can find Sugar Beach, where I was able to get some ice cream.

Central Park

Nothing like leaving Nassau, and going to the next destination, like continue exploring the ship, and in this breezy night, I of course had to explore Central Park, where even the signs kind of represent those ones as in my hometown New York.

Also, my room is located right next to it with a partial view, like shown in the last blog. Trellis Bar is an interesting concept in this area.

• Chops Grille: Royal Caribbean’s signature American steakhouse serving prime steaks, seafood, and shareable sides (on Utopia, it directly connects to Trellis Bar).
• Izumi Sushi & Izumi in the Park: A sit-down Japanese specialty venue paired with a convenient walk-up window serving quick-grab sushi, rolls, and sweet bubble waffle ice cream cones late into the night.
• Park Café: A complimentary, casual deli open for breakfast and lunch, famous for made-to-order salads, paninis, pastries, and the iconic Kümmelweck roast beef sandwich.

Bars & Lounges

• Trellis Bar: An open-air lounge situated in the heart of the park, ideal for pre-dinner cocktails surrounded by greenery.
• Rising Tide Bar: An iconic moving elevator bar that continuously ascends and descends between the Royal Promenade (Deck 5) and Central Park (Deck 8).

Shopping, Art & Atmosphere

• Luxury Retail Boutiques: High-end shops offering designer watches, fine jewelry, leather goods, and fashion.
• Park West Art Gallery: An art display space featuring curated fine artwork.
• Living Gardens & Pathways: Winding garden walkways, quiet shaded benches, multi-story living vine walls, and subtle ambient nature sounds, providing a serene outdoor escape mid-ship.
