Day 5: Discovering The Amazing Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier’s Natural Beauty
Day 5: Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier / Spectra’s Cabaret
Alarms went off, and we had to wake up at 6:00 AM (even earlier) to see the Endicott Arm at the entry. The captain had told us the day before to stay alert of the times to see both the arm and the glacier since it was going to be very early in the morning. Times were also posted on the RC TV channel and on a paper the stateroom attendant left us the day before.
There was no excuse to wake up and see this beautiful landscape.

So as usual, I went down to La Patisserie to get us some coffees using the Refreshment Package that we had, and then came back to the stateroom just to go to the balcony and see the surroundings.

The captain had already said that due to the small glaciers in the water, we would not be able to get too close to the Dawes Glacier, but it would be visible from the ship, and that the ship was going to turn in circles so everyone could see it from all the angles.

We had our coffees, got ready and went upstairs to the terraces on top of the captain deck on the Solarium. The views were just amazing. I think only being able to witness the beautiful mountains and colors of the water, was enough to pay for the trip.

We were getting closer and closer to the glacier, but it was going to be at leats a few minutes until we could see it.

Getting to the Dawes Glacier
The view from the Solarium was amazing, and at almost 8 AM there were people already on the hot tub.

The fjord really did impress me. The weather was nice, we were wearing a hoodie and it was enough for this cold but calm day. Not heavy winds either.

Blue water and infinite waterfalls coming down from the mountains.

At that time, we decided to go to the gym, at deck 16, in the Vitality at Sea Fitness Center. The best view from any gym I have ever had. And there it was, the Dawes Glacier, at the very end of the Endicott Arm. We were able to see it for the first time at 7:43 AM. So yeah, you better wake up early.

Anything better than doing cardio while seeing this with your own eyes??? I was in awe. I didn’t really want this part of the cruise to end. It was majestic, and really, really wanted for this cruise to offer an option to go explore it even closer, like in a smaller boat or something. But this excursion was not available.

But at least we got to see this. Once the cruise reached the closest they could be, the captain informed once again that they were going to maneuver the boat a couple of times in order for all guest to see the glacier, going in full circles.

The perfect gym day

I was not alone on my gym tasks for this morning lol. The good thing about this gym , besides the beautiful views it offers, like the unbelievable one from today, is that they offer free towels, free water from the fountain. They also have a bathroom and cleaning supplies for your machines.

By 8:45 AM, the cruise started its way back on the Endicott Arm, and quickly, the Dawes Glacier was not visible anymore. We then went to the Windjammer Marketplace for breakfast. It seemed like the entire cruise was awake this morning.

By 9:40 AM we were exiting the Endicott Arm. That was basically the activity for the day, the day was officially over. Only thing left was later this evening. So seeing this, we decided to take a nap.

Exploring Ovation of the Seas
Time to wake up, and it was also time to explore the ship. Days 1 to 4 were busy and did not let us explore it properly. Now, I had been craving fish and chips from Fish And Ships in Deck 14 since the very beginning. As you may know, I am a connoisseur of fish and chips. Here are some of my most recent post related to this delicacy:
- I Spent One Day At Disney Springs and Icon Park: Best Things To Do
- Things To Do At The Wonderful Universal Studios Japan
- I spent a day touring the Surprising Cape Town
The result of this ones though? Dissapointing. They were ok but not as perfect as the ones in Universal or Cape Town. I would not recommend them.

Quicky after, we went to the back of deck 15 to see the RipCord iFly. I was about to schedule for free for today, but kinda got chicken out and thought the whole time would be a mess.

We then walked around the Sea Plex. This sports area had tournments scheduled, especially in days at sea like today, but other times it had bumper cars, which were never available at good times. It was usually like in the middle of other activity happening in the cruise, or while at port. I was upset we could not ride them.

The SeaPlex had 2 floors, and on deck 16 you could see some other areas, mostly focused for teenagers and younger adults, like the XBOX ONE station.

And the food offering for this area was the SeaPlex Dog House. I got myself one hot dog, and I kinda regret it. The sausage was ok, but the bun was too stale.

On this area you could also find the Arcade, which is not included in the price of the cruise.

Now in the open sea (or almost open), we were able to see a rainbow in the distance 🙂

Who said alcohol?
This day turned out to be the laziest of all of the 3 days at see we were going to have and I feel it’s because the cruise did not plan many things for the day. After we checked some clothes and some store on the Royal Promenade, we decided to give Bionic Bar a chance.

The ship was going FAST, and rocking a lot! I did not know if this was going to be a good idea, getting alcohol for the first time on this cruise. I selected from the iPad a random drink, and the robots made it. It was very fast and simple. After a few sips, and due to the ship moving I started to have a slight dizziness lol.

A rushed dinner
I did not finish the drink but save it for later, and after 6:30 PM we got ready for dinner. The Spectra’s Cabaret reservation was at 7:00 PM. Suppossedly we were going to rush dinner. Wrong. You cannot rush dinner in the Main Dining Room. Allocate at least one hour and 30 minutes of your evening for this. As appetizzer I got the Polenta Fries, which were super yummy. Very crispy and gold.

For the Main Course I got the lasagna. Apparently it was italian night. Definitely another good choice, very cheese and meaty.

With the dinner late, we went to the Guest Services in Deck 4, and asked them to see if we could get a new reservation for the second show of Spectra’s Cabaret at 9 PM. Turned out we couldn’t, and that we should just try to get in at that time. We followed the advice, but first went to the Royal Theater to see Puss in Boots: The Last Wish in the meantime.

Spectra’s Cabaret
Before 9:00 PM, we got a couple of chairs and a table in Two70. They let us in only asking if we had any reservation.

Before the show started, and even during, there were servers walking around and taking orders. I took advantage of my Refreshment Package and got a Lava Flow, my favorite drink of the cruise.

The show started and oh oh. DO NOT get seats this far from the main stage, because it goes down and I was not able to see them dancing down there. I do not think many seats are able to see anything while the platform is lowered, like what kind of design is this lol. Fortunately, not all of the show is down there, we were able to see a lot lot.

The show was interesting, but definitely not something I would see many days on the cruise. There were 6 showings, so 6 chances of seeing it.

To end the night, we passed again by the Royal Theater, and saw Top Gun: Maverick.
