Disney Magic: Halloween on the High Seas – Day 2: Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, Trick ‘or’ Treat, Mickey’s Mouse-Querade Party

Intro

Day 2 of my first-ever Halloween on the High Seas cruise aboard the Disney Magic had us visiting Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, Disney Cruise Line’s stunning new private destination in The Bahamas.

This is definitely going to be a first tour to compare it with Castaway Cay, but I am very hopeful it would blow my mind and make me want to visit it more times. Follow me on this Day 2 of the Disney Magic’s Halloween on the High Seas cruise in the Bahamas.

4-Night Halloween on the High Seas Bahamian Cruise from Fort Lauderdale: Day 2 – Senses Spa Fitness Area, Cove Cafe

We woke up on Day 2 of the Halloween on the High Seas Bahamian Cruise, and went straight to the Senses Spa Fitness Area. We had to work out those extra calories we were getting on this cruise. And also to relax the body and get it ready for a long day at the beach. Yes, today we were going to set foot for the first time in the new Disney private destination: Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

This gym has cold towels and flavored ice water available for all guests. We also used the sauna located in the Locker Room, which also had a steam room. The discovery of it was just amazing!

We lifted some weights and ran for a few minutes and now it was time to get coffee and get ready for the day.

Once we finished, and went out to the deck, we noticed that we had arrived to the Disney’s new private destination: Lookout at Lighthouse Point. The long pier gave it away, which was one of the biggest complaints when they open in 2024. At least the weather looked phenomenal.

Time to get all ready for the beach day, but first, we had to get a coffee from Cove Cafe, and they were offering this Agatha All Along Ube Coconut Latte that looked really good.

We were finally off the ship, and the sun was out! We brought umbrellas, and people were looking at us like crazy, but yeah, you do not want to play with the sun. We also used sunblock and covered ourselves, especially for this long journey on this long pier.

The pier needs some shade urgently, but the walk itself is not that bad how people make it looked like. The Disney Magic looked so beautiful from here.

The long pier was necessary to not disturb the reef, and make it possible for the cruise to dock. We do not need another tender private island like other cruise lines.

Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point offers a window into the rich culture, warm hospitality and breathtaking natural beauty of The Bahamas. Dig your toes into the blush-sand shoreline, dive into the vivid blue waters and be mesmerized by stunning vistas of the shimmering Caribbean Sea, stretching endlessly into the horizon.

We could see the Mabrika cabanas on this side of the island. But we were going to the other side, to Serenity Bay, the adults only section.

The welcome sign looked really good!

And on the Disney Cruise Line app we were able to see the official map of the resort.

Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is a private section of the island of Eleuthera in The Bahamas. Meaning that it’s not a private island, but more like a resort in a local island, meaning also, that it is possible to go visit other parts of the island and towns if Disney would allowed. The concept is similar to Labadee in Haiti for Royal Caribbean. This is what Lookout Cay at Lighthouse point offers:

  • Beaches: Blush-sand beaches, including one for adults
  • Water play area: A splash pad with water slides, dumping buckets, and musical instruments
  • Nature trails: A trail that leads to a lighthouse overlooking the sea
  • Cultural experiences: A Bahamian cultural welcome, art classes, and Junkanoo dance celebrations
  • Food: Local seafood, Disney Cruise Line beach BBQs, and island curry
  • Entertainment: Disney music, Disney pals, and live performances
  • Cabanas: Premium family cabanas for rent at Mabrika Cove Cabanas
  • Goombay Cultural Center: A lively spot that hosts RUSH!, a Junkanoo celebration with a parade and dance party

There were multiple Disney character inspired photo backgrounds with a touch of the Bahamian culture. This one was Mickey Mouse.

After a bathroom stop to change into our beach attires, we took the tram at the Mabrika Tram Stop to go into the Goombay Cultural Center Tram Stop, where the rest of the stuff in the island was located, including the adults only beach.

And after a few minutes of walking we had arrived. Wow, the color of the water was incredible. Definitely, a thousand times better than the one in Castaway Cay. Definitely, and jumping to conclusions here. If you want to have a nice beach day, prioritize this destination rather than other ones, including Castaway Cay. I’m sorry.

Serenity Bay was amazing. And yes, it is a short strip of beach, compared to Castaway Cay, but the water was so clear and amazing, and also, we managed to find a spot easily, even though we arrived kinda late, and the kids on the family beach next to us, did not really bother us, like we actually did not see them.

This area has servers going around showing menus for drinks, and we got a pina colada, that we paid with the key to the world card. Later, it was time for lunch, and we decided to go to the Serenity Bay BBQ, just steps from the beach, which is another advantage, compared to Castaway Cay, where you have to walk all the way back to eat.

The food was good in general. Some of it had run out, and we had to wait a little bit for them to replenish . We tried the more local dishes, and we did not have much trouble with the flies really. I think that by now that problem must be solved.

The day at the beach was over, and we decided to take a stroll. The place started to look very empty. It is definitely a huge area for not too many guests on the Disney Magic, like it looked very isolated at times.

I decided to walk the natural trail and then the Lighthouse Beach in the south of this area, that led me to these cliffs. It was just so beautiful.

Walked all the way back to the Play-Play Pavilion which was very empty by now, since it was almost time to return to the ship, and from there went to get the tram.

We got to the tram at the Goombay Cultural Center, and got to the Mabrika Cove tram station. I liked the little stories and narration on the tram. Here, we got more pina coladas at the Mangroves & Go, just to refresh us before the walk back to the ship.

But hey, thankfully my mom insisted in taking the carts back to the ship, because we were able to get in in a couple of minutes to one of them. It takes some time to load everyone in, but it is worthy if you do not want to walk the entire length of the pier.

4-Night Halloween on the High Seas Bahamian Cruise from Fort Lauderdale: Day 2 – Lumiere’s

Now back in the ship, it was time to refresh and relax before dinner. The rotational dining put us tonight in Lumiere’s, the French inspired restaurant, also inspired in the Beauty and the Beast story. During these dinners, they put us in the same table as similar duos. One pair was a couple of siblings of similar age, and the other two were friends travelling together. It is possible to request dining in your own table, but Disney would try to put similar groups on the same table.

We had just been to Paris, and we had to try again the escargots of course.

For the main, I got the oven baked Salmon Royale, and for dessert I ordered the Strawberry Shortcake Sundae

We returned to the stateroom and a ray was waiting for us (?).

It was time to explore the ship a little bit more, and we passed by Palo. I was sad I was not able to grab a reservation once again, but here I was.

It was almost sunset, and the ship was already on the way to our destination.

4-Night Halloween on the High Seas Bahamian Cruise from Fort Lauderdale: Day 2 – Trick ‘or’ Treat, and Mickey’s Mouse-Querade Party

Tonight, it was the celebration of Halloween on board. I know, these Disney cruises are so packed day and night, but it was a busy night, with first getting free candy from Cabanas, where they were doing Trick ‘or’ Treat. A lot of people brought their costumes on board, and many of them were just amazing. I saw a family all dressed as the Princess and the Frog characters, wow!

The bag was Moana 2, and it was giving the Encanto bag that I got in Oogie Boogie Bash a few years ago.

We filled up our bags, and now it was time for Mickey’s Mouse-Querade Party to close the night. It was cute, but we were exhausted from the beach, and now it was time to go to bed, and get ready for a new destination on Day 03.
