Fantastic Oogie Boogie Bash: A Spooky Disney California Adventure!
Intro
Hey there, folks! So, picture this: you’re strolling through Disney California Adventure on a Fall evening, and all around you, there’s an extra sprinkle of magic in the air. The park is decked out in Halloween finery, with spooky decorations and a hint of mischief around every corner.
What’s going on, you ask? Well, you’ve stumbled upon the Oogie Boogie Bash, one of Disney’s coolest and spookiest events, and let me tell you, it’s an absolute blast!
Now, I’m not your typical Disney fanatic, but when it comes to the Oogie Boogie Bash, I can’t help but get excited. It’s like Disney took Halloween and turned it up to 11.
From the eerily enchanting decorations to the fantastic character costumes (seriously, you won’t believe your eyes), this event has it all.
And trust me, it’s not just for the little ones – it’s a thrill for all ages.
In this post, I’m going to take you on a virtual tour of my Oogie Boogie Bash experience. We’ll dive into the spine-tingling parade, check out some iconic Disney characters in their Halloween best, and of course, I’ll spill the beans on the must-see attractions and mouthwatering treats.
So, grab a pumpkin spice latte, get comfy, and let’s embark on this spooktacular adventure together!
Getting to Oogie Boogie Bash
When I bought these tickets I had no idea of this event. I had heard about it, and coincidentally I was going to Disneyland in the middle of September.
On YouTube I saw a couple of videos about the event, and decided to buy tickets for the event without knowing what to expect.
I had already gotten Park Hopper tickets for that day and the next day, and I started my day in Disneyland. When I was able to Park Hop, I went across to Disney California Adventure, and stayed there until the event started.

The park was getting full real quick, since Oogie Boogie Bash guests are allowed since 3 PM, although the party starts at 6:00 PM.
There is no Stay and Scream like in Halloween Horror Nights in Universal, so you can just get a bracelet to show that you can stay in the After Hours event, and then you are free to join when it starts.
Character Experiences and Immersive Treat Trails
Mickey Mouse and some other Disney Animation characters, like Daisy, Minnie and others in their costumes.

But rare characters like Dr. Facilier from The Princess and The Frog can also be seen in their special spots.

My favorite one without a doubt is the iconic Agatha Harkness from WandaVision.

Of course, the host of the night, Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas, can be spotted in his designated area, where, just like some others, you can get plenty of candy while you admire their interactions with other guests.

Megara from Hercules, which you do not usually see around Disney, is also out and about meeting guests.

And another character that keeps coming back to this event, because it just become part of it is Cruella.

During these Immersive Treat Trails you can also see some other more classic characters like Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, because of course, she is the leader of all the villains.

And finally, by Pixar Pier, Sid from Toy Story would roast you all night while you get some candy in this trail.

Frightfully Fun Parade
Two times during the night, you have the change to see the Frightfully Fun Parade, a funny event where you can spot your favorite characters once again, and some others. It could be very spooky but also very fun!

Some villains make a surprising appearance in this Parade.

Attractions during Oogie Boogie Bash
Some attractions that are usually opened during the event are in the next list, but be careful. I would do them before the event starts, so you get to do the specific tasks of the event only:
- Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark!
- Radiator Springs Racers
- Incredicoaster
- Pixar Pal-A-Round
- WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure (part of Avengers Campus)
- Toy Story Midway Mania!
- Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!
- Soarin’ Around the World
- Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters
- Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree
- The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure

Definitely consider visiting this overlay of the Monsters After Dark, that you can only see after 3 PM and during the event.

Special Decor and More
There is no doubt that the ambiance makes everything, and Disney California Adventure transforms itself in a family friendly spooky zone, definitely not R-rated like some areas during Halloween Horror Nights in Universal.

Plaza de la Familia transforms into a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) plaza, celebrating the Pixar film Coco.

And Avengers Campus is not exactly decorated for Halloween, but it contains some of the best opportunities during this event.

Carthay Circle
The decorations in this iconic spot of the park are off the chart, and definitely give a grandiose feeling of Halloween to all the guests.

Leaving Oogie Boogie Bash
This party is kind of quick and usually ends by 11 PM, so you better do all the things you planned to do. Get those candies, encounter those characters and see that parade FAST!

After getting to the hotel this was all the candy I got lol.

Other Characters to meet before Oogie Boogie Bash
Since you can access the park at 3 PM, 3 hours before the event starts, I would recommend you to meet some other characters, especially around Avengers Campus, like Loki…

… Spider-Man, during his little show, with the stunt-tronic…

… and the Dora Milaje from Black Panther Wakanda Forever, which also give us a show.

And by the entrance of this land you can also spot the Guardians of the Galaxy, specifically Peter Quill and Gamora. They would do a dance off and everything lol.

Not too far from there, Doctor Steven Strange will also perform using his mystic habilities.

Other attractions during the day
Well, like I said before, most attractions will be opened during Oogie Boogie Bash, but try to do some of them before the event starts, like for example, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT! is only opened before 3 PM, and then it would switch to Monsters After Dark!, the Halloween spooky version of the same ride.

And talking about scary, the most scary attraction in this park is the swinging version of the Pixar Pal-A-Round. Definitely try it if you dare.

Meanwhile, Incredicoaster is the best attraction if you like this type of thrills. I personally love it. Maybe use Disney Genie+ to do the most rides if you come early in the day.

Finally, a very busy one, Radiator Springs Racers can be very fun and full of adrenaline.

What to eat at DCA?
There are plenty of options at DCA, and I chose not to eat during the Oogie Boogie Bash event, just because there is no time for that.
However, during the day, I got to go to the Pym Test Kitchen at Avengers Campus and got myself some nice dishes, including the Not so little chicken sandwich: Fried Chicken Breast, Teriyaki and Red Chili Sauces, and Pickled Cabbage Slaw on Brioche, served with crispy Potato Bites.

Later on, I got the Calculated Breakfast = E x 2 + (B+P)/T: Eggs Two Ways with Smoked Bacon, crispy Potato Bites and Focaccia Toast. And Cinna-Pym Toast 2.0: Challah French Toast with Smoked Bacon and Maple Syrup with Blueberry-flavored Popping Spheres.
All these plates were delicious, but the toast was exquisite.

Other Photo Opportunities
During Oogie Boogie Bash and through the day at DCA, you will find plenty of photo opportunities. When I went there, I got to take pics with Miss Minutes from Loki.

And the Iron Man costume in the Avengers Campus.

Conclusion
So there you have it, folks, the lowdown on the fantastic Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure! It’s like Disney cranked up the Halloween fun to eleven, and I’m here for it.
From meeting rare characters like Dr. Facilier to the spine-tingling Frightfully Fun Parade, this event is a scream for all ages.
But remember, time flies when you’re having spooky fun, so make sure you hustle to see all those characters, snag some candy, and catch that parade before the clock strikes 11 PM.
And hey, don’t forget to fuel up with some delectable dishes at places like the Pym Test Kitchen during the day. That Calculated Breakfast and Cinna-Pym Toast 2.0 are to die for!
Thanks for joining me on this ghostly adventure through Disney California Adventure’s Oogie Boogie Bash. Until next time, stay spooktacular, my friends! 🎃👻
