Summary of the Trip
My plan was to travel to Orlando and visit the 4 Disney Parks and the 2 Universal Parks in 4 days. I would also visit Disney Springs for the last day, so what I decided was to start with Universal Orlando Resort, then sandwich 2 days of Park Hopping in Walt Disney World, and finally finish with Universal again, and a quick visit to Disney Springs. You can actually read about all the adventures in this trip:

And of course Day 1 will be explored in this post, starting very early in the morning in New York City.
From New York City to Orlando
I had to use my time very wisely, and a flight from JFK to MCO at 5:50 am was probably going to be the best bet in this case.

I arrived to the gate in JFK Internation Airport, right before the sunrise, and was so ready for 4 days of thrills and adventure.

We took off while the city that never sleeps was getting ready to start their day.

And in a great turn of events, the pilot turned so I could see the best skyline on Earth.

Brooklyn, Downtown, Midtown and Queens doing their best to impress me with the also great colors that this sunrise was giving.

MCO Orlando International Airport
And just like that I fell asleep, and a couple of hours later we landed in Orlando, Florida. To my surprise we arrived in the new terminal C, very futuristic! I want to be able to land here every time I come to Orlando.
The new Walt Disney World store welcomed me just before spending most of my time in Orlando in their parks.

Also, the Universal Orlando Resort store is brand new in this terminal.

Arriving to Universal Orlando Resort
My plan was to start in Universal’s Islands of Adventure, rope droppin Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure, which means, even though I was late for the opening of the park, especially since resort guests can enter 30 min earlier, I aimed to go into the busiest roller coaster of Orlando first.

But before that, I needed to claim my Universal Orlando Annual Pass Power Pass card, that I acquired over the phone from New York. It was cheaper than all the times I would come to Universal Orlando this year.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ – Hogsmeade™
I rushed quickly (without running) until I got to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ – Hogsmeade™ in Universal’s Islands of Adventure. I put my stuff in the lockers, and just kept my Annual Pass card and my cellphone, and joined the Single Rider Line. Yes, there is a Single Rider line that you could take advantage of. You can find these lines also in:
- Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
- Jurassic World VelociCoaster
- Jurassic Park River Adventure
- Skull Island: Reign of Kong
- Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls
- The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man
- Dr. Doom’s Fearfall
- The Incredible Hulk Coaster

After quite the wait, but still not too long as in a few days, I got out and got to explore a bit of Hogsmeade. I gotta say that Diagon Alley is iconic but Hogsmead is the OG. I will never forget my reaction when I first got in this land a long time ago.

As a connoisseur of Fish and Chips, I had to get the ones that got me into liking this dish. The Fish and Chips from Three Broomsticks did the trick years ago and now I cannot stop ordering them wherever I see them: London, Cape Town, Universal Japan, Epcot and even Icon Park in Orlando.

After my breakfast I got to go to Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey single riders line, after putting my stuff in the newly located lockers, far from the mess that was before.

That ride causes some dizziness for some people, but if you are not prompt to motion sickness you should be fine. It is always epic to be able to enter the castle and see all the Easter eggs. Ride after that I enjoyed the Frog Choir at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

The Hogwarts Castle was looking perfect in this hot Florida day. I was happy to finally be here after a full year since Halloween Horror Nights 2022.

And just like in New York City, I had to get a butterbeer like right now, especially since it was so hot. With this in hand I could finally leave this land and maybe be transported to a place whwee I would be able to see creatures from 64 million years ago.

Jurassic Park
Also in Universal’s Islands of Adventure, Orlando, Florida, and right next to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade, you can find the Jurassic Park land, and its subsection of Jurassic World. But I had been keeping an eye on the Wait Times on the Universal app and Velocicoaster had dropped a bit.

And there I went. If Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure were the most iconic and fun roller coasters of Orlando, Velocicoaster had the throne for a long while, and it is still very entertaining, and with more thrills than the first ones.

Single Riders was opened, but you gotta be careful with this ride. The Single Riders line is way less prioritized here than in other attractions, taking sometimes even longer than just doing the regular line. I would not recommend it unless you see that it is short.

After laughing and screaming on that roller coaster, it was time to have a relaxing River Adventure, also using the Single Rider line. But wait, relaxing? Kinda, this attraction drops you 85 feet at the very end, and gets you somehow wet (or completely soaked, depends on your luck).

On the way to Universal Studios Florida
I would come back later to explore the rest of this park, but it was already passed 2:30 PM, and I still had some priorities in Universal. So, I went back to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade, and using the Hogwarts Express I was able to hop parks, and jump to Universal Studios Florida. Soon I was in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Kings Cross Station in Universal Studios, Orlando, Florida.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley
Without wasting any time, I got back again through the enchanted wall to get into Diagon Alley. The most detailed land in any park in the world ever was in front of me.

My last priority ride today was Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, and this one also has a Single Rider line chance. Remember, if you are with someone or a group, you will be split! Other Single Rider lines in this park are:
- Men in Black Alien Attack
- Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
- Transformers: The Ride – 3D
- Revenge of the Mummy
- Fast and Furious – Supercharged

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, although not canon to the story, is very fun and mixes real roller coaster movement, dark ride, 3D screens and elements like fire and water. Definitely a must-do. Next up, I went to the always fascinating Knockturn Alley. I do not know who had the idea of including a completely dark whole section of a land, and actually make it work. Genius!

Finally in this land, and every 00, 10, 20, etc minutes o’clock, the dragon spits fire, and makesour visit even more fun.

New York
In the New York section of Universal Studios Florida, there is some entertainment that you do not want to miss, including the frequent Beat Builders, by Louie’s Italian Restaurant.

But the main attraction in this land is the Revenge of the Mummy. This fun interior roller coaster is also full of fire and visual effects. And the thrills! I f you are alone definitely take the Single Rider line, it would take you to the front (or almost).

Finally in this land, Transformers The Ride-3D continues to being one of the most popular ones, and yes, I recommend the Single Rider line.

Minion Land
Home of the new attractions and restaurants, Minion Land is the focus of attention of this park, at least until Halloween Horror Nights starts. I got to visit the Minion’s Cafe.

And I was surprised of how big and well themed it was. I was hungry, so I ordered the El Macho’s Salsa y Salsa Ropa Vieja for $17.99.

And for dessert I got the Minion Swiss Roll. Everything very yummy but got me so full.

Across from the Minion’s Cafe, the Bake My Day Store also opened. One of the few things missing by the time I visited was the recently opened Minion Blast. I will be able to check it out very soon.

Hollywood
Incredibly, I was never able to see this show, The Bourne Stuntacular blew my mind. It was completely worth it to sit down, get some AC, and enjoy the full of visual effects show (and STUNTS of course!).

As mentioned before, Halloween Horror Nights 2023 is approaching fast and I am just excited to finally be able to go in all these houses, including the one from The Last of Us.

Also in Hollywood, I got the chance to visit the now closed Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary Tribute Store, quickly replaced by the soon to be opened Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store.

But the it was very cute, and full of props from these movies.

Back to Islands of Adventures
It was already 6:00 PM and I had just a bit of time to enjoy the rest of Islands of Adventure, so I left and this time I just park hopped through CityWalk, because why not.

Marvel Super Hero Island
My archnemesis in Orlando is Rip Ride Rock It! but Hulk is a close second. Even though I had been in this roller coaster multiple times, in the lastest ones I felt it was too rough, and I do not think a ride is too fun if it shakes me all over the place. I still rode it this time just because it had been a long time.

My other favorite one in this land is definitely Spider-Man, and just like the Transformers ride, this one would take you around on a 3D adventure.

Skull Island: Reign of Kong
The only attraction on this land, Skull Island: Reign of Kong, is an entertaining ride that would have you disoriented (but in a fun way), and the animatronic of Kong at the end is just unbelievable.

Toon Lagoon
A good option of a hot day, and if you like water rides is Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls®, but remember, you will be soaked. I decided not to ride it this time but maybe next time?

Leaving Universal Orlando during sunset
I think I had a successful first day in Universal. I got to go on 10 rides, eat plenty of good food and see The Bourne Stuntacullar for the first time.

But now it was time to leave Universal, go get my suitcase from the lockers, and then go to the hotel by Disney Springs.

CityWalk was getting busy and I was just rushing to the lockers and then was going to take an Uber.

But the sunset signaled the end of the day, and you can now read the following day here.
