Where To Eat In Summer In New York
In the last entry, I showed some of the places you could visit in Summer in New York City. In this post, we are going to explore more places to eat. Like I said previously, you can still follow the 12 Thing To Do in New York City in Spring, but for the Summer, and some there are some good recommendations in there. Let’s explore these places.
1) Chipotle
Chipotle has improved through the years, and even though this is a chain you can find in many places in the US, the new menus including Chicken Al Pastor, feel very related to New York City, and the big Mexican population living here. I always prefer the bowls, and if you are on a special diet, there are keto, Whole30, protein, etc.

2) Colombia in Park Slope
A small restaurant located in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and full of typical options from my country of origin, Colombia.

When I went, I ordered the Pechuga Asada which is Roast Chicken with rice and fries. It works good as a quick lunch but not really a culinary experience.

3) Chicken Feastin
This restaurant located also in Park Slope by 9th ave and 5th St, comprises a versatile menu of chicken plates with multiple combinations.

4) Klom Klorm
One of my favorite restaurants in the 5 boroughs is Klom Klorm, a Thai place located in Bushwick, Brooklyn close to the DeKalb Ave Station on the L Train. This restaurant has just one of the most delicious food in New York, with affordable prices and a great variety. Also, the place is cute and the service is impecable.

5) Tina’s Place
Tina’s Place, also in Bushwick, is the perfect spot for a brunch after a long night at the clubs. Or just to go for a bite. The place only accepts cash but the prices are good, and it is conveniently close to the Morgan Station on the L Train.

6) Calexico
I am always weak for Mexican food, and Calexico in Park Slope simply is just so good to be true. The flavors were there, very authentic to the food you can eat on the streets of Mexico, city I have visited multiple times. The lunch plate was a blessing because it combined tacos, chips and rice and beans, which let me try all these things for a reduced price. I would completely go back here.

7) Broadway Street Fair
Just north of Times Square in Manhattan, there is a Street Fair on Broadway that has a lot of food options. One that caught my attention was the Colombian Empanadas booth. If you never tried empanadas before this, you are going to be addicted.

8) Krispy Kreme
And now with a sugary option, it is Krispy Kreme in Times Square. This new and yet iconic location lets you see part of the process of the donut glazing, and as a flagship store, offers not only donuts but a lot of merch as well.

9) Shake Shack
And if Chipotle did not feel too New York enough, this other food chain, Shake Shack originated here, in Madison Square Park. It is really a nice place to order some SmokeShack and eat it in this little plaza in the park.

10) Mominette Bistro
This brunch restaurant in the heart of Bushwick, Brooklyn, is the perfect escape for a nice French cuisine experience. Although the menu is very versatil and offers typical American dishes, like this Steak and Eggs with potatoes. The patio on the back offers a relaxing shaded but outside space that makes you want to come back.

11) Manhattan Street Fair
The Manhattan Street Fair in 8th Avenue offers A LOT of food options, with cuisines from multiple places in the world. When I first discovered they did this festival back in 2017, I kept coming every year, just to see what they offer, and yes, there are a lot of Colombian booths with the classic Cheese Arepa and Empanadas.

12) DD Soup Dumpling
Dumplings are another weakness for me, and after having had them in Osaka, Japan, I needed to have them again in New York City. DD Soup Dumpling in 9th Ave was a good spot for this. We ordered the Pork and the Shrimp dumplings, and they were delicious. We noticed that this same place had a hibachi, and would have prefered that, but we were full and the dumplings were the best solution for a quick snack.

13) Chelsea Market
Just like I recommended before, the Chelsea Market and in general the Chelsea Area is the spot for some of the best food in New York City, including the legendary Tacos No. 1. The lines at this place are insane, so be ready to wait for a bit or try to come earlier in the day.

14) Starbucks Reserve Chelsea
Yes, I am putting Starbucks Reserve back in this list for the Summer, just because it is that good. You will be amazed of all the things tou can eat or just buy here. There’s plenty things in the menu that youl would not find nowhere else.

EXTRA: Places to visit
As I mentioned in my last entry, I was not only going to include places to go for food, but also just entertain yourself. Here is a quick list of other places to visit in New York City this Summer.
1) Grand Central Terminal
I mean, even if you have to just pass by this gigantic station, the architecture itself is enough to want to visit and explore. There are multiple stores and restaurants, and with the East River Access, now it is the home of the Long Island Railroad.

2) The LEGO® Store Fifth Avenue
This store was a surprise when I visit a few weeks ago, it is just amazing what they were able to do in this space, including so many references to the real New York City and the one that you find in Pop Culture, like the Marvel Movies or Friends.

3) Times Square
Love it or hate it, Times Square will always be in the heart of the action, with 5th Avenue and Central Park in the north, Grand Central to the East, Madison Square Garden to the South and Hell’s Kitchen to the West. And well, all the stores around that continue opening and transforming to make the area more attractive for visitors, but also for locals.

4) M&M’s World Store
This flagship store by Times Square, just like the one in Disney Springs in Orlando, provides you with all the fun the M&M’s can bring, including a great variety of flavors of this candy.

5) Top of The Rock
One of the most famous lookouts in the city is Top of The Rock located in Rockefeller Center. The views from up there are amazing, and just like it does with me, it makes you come back all the time. The view of the Central Park and the Empire State Building are incomparable.

6) Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace
Just in front of the Rockefeller Center building, and where they usually install the Christmas Tree, there is a skate rink in case you need to brun more calories after all the food you have eaten in New York City.

7) Escape the Room NYC
Located in 25th St, Escape the Room NYC was the first one of these experiences I ever had, and it was AMAZING. We chose the South Park Themed room and it was difficult but very very fun. I would for sure do this again with a group.

8) Brooklyn Bridge
A typical recommendation, but something you cannot miss is the Brooklyn Bridge. And if you do it on a bike (or a citibike) on the new, separated path, it is all fun and no risk.

I would recommend using an e-bike, just because the bridge is very prominent at the beginning.

9) DUMBO
Famous in the last few years, the view of the Manhattan bridge from DUMBO is just mesmerizing.

10) Midtown Comics NYC
If you are a fan of comics or Comic Book Movies, then you must visit this huge store in Midtown by Times Square.

11) Central Park
Take a stroll or just bike around, this is always going to be a great place to go in any season of the year.

12) Ferry NY Waterway
Located in W 39th St, this terminal would provide ferry service in the Hudson river to go to many places in the metropolitan New Jersey.

13) Hudson Yards
Like I said in a previous post, Hudson Yards is what’s in right now. El Mercado is simply one of the best culinary experiencies in New York.

14) The High Line
And connected to Hudson Yards and through the Chelsea Market is The High Line, a linear park in the heart of the city.

There you have it: 14 food places and 14 things to do in New York City. Now go explore and let me know in the comments if you have any questions about them.
