12 Things To Do In New York In Spring
1) Eat at Chelsea Market
New York City offers an infinite amount of places to eat. If you would pick a different restaurant every day, you would never run out of new options. And new options are usually in the market when summer approaches. Chelsea Market for example has the best tacos place in New York. Los Tacos No. 1 always has a long line regarless of the time, but do not be intimidated by that, since it goes very fast. Also, it is so worth it.

The flavour, spiceness, condiments, tenderness of the meat. Everything is perfect with these tacos, and the best part it’s they cost less than $5.

2) Go Bowling
Sometime people forget this fun activity can easly be found in the city. Although there are many places in Manhattan for bowling, I picked The Gutter in Lower East Side because they were accepting Walk Ins. So if you plan something out of the blue, and even until very late at night, maybe pick this place. As of May 2023 the price for 30 min per lane is $35, and shoes are $5.

During my 60 min bowling party we had the Nachos for $14 and Non-Alcoholic beers for $7 each.

3) Exercise
I know, I know. If you are visiting or even if you are living in New York City, exercising can be something that you do not want to do when it is still kind of chilly outside. But taking care of your body and get it ready for the marathonic summer and all the food you will be eating, is worth checking out. If you do not know where to start your physical journey, you can try a few gyms first and then decide based on convenience, budget, location, amenities, etc. Whatever you think it is more important for you. Some gyms even offer free trials, walk thrus and discounts when you join.

And the gym does not have to be close to home, your gym can also be located by your job, or within your commute. Check on Google Maps all the gym options and see what works for you.
4) See a Movie (or many)
Blockbuster movie season started and now it is time to check them out. Some theater chains like AMC offer AMC Stubs A-List, which includes 3 movies per week, ON ANY TYPE of screen, so after one or two movies in IMAX or any other premium screen you could get the investment back. There are other benefits but that’s just the best movies chain program.

Also, have into account that some theaters in New Yor City offer premium screens like IMAX, but they are really not it. In my opinion, the only IMAX theater in New York is located at AMC Lincoln Square 13, and the best 4DX is located at Regal Union Square.

Finally, keep checking for Free Summer Movies, some of them already open during spring, and you might want check them out.
5) Get an Annual (and/or Lasik)
In my case I got the two of them. I feel like Spring is the best season to not only clean your home (literally) but also take care of your health. I get a physical exam every year around May to make sure I am healthy, and if not then what to do about it.

I also got Lasik surgery, after making the decision of not wanting to wear contacts or glasses anymore. The surgery was fast but the next hours were very painful. The results are very worth it tho, 20/20 on both eyes. One of the best decisions of my life.

6) Visit Little Island
Apparently a lot of people are still new to this park in New York. I visited it for the first time in Winter of 2021-2022, but now seems like it is the SPOT to hang out.

No need to describe. It is just a beautiful place to hang out, maybe get some food from the food carts, see magnificent views of the Hudson river and just enjoy the breeze.
7) Visit an actual new place: Market 57 at Pier 57
Even though the Rooftop Park section of this pier opened a while ago, the Market 57 located in the ground level is relatively new. It hosts a good selection of places to eat and drink, and it is worth visiting, especially if you are going to either The Little Island or Chelsea Market, just to make it a trifecta of great places to visit in the Hudson.

8) Enjoy Hudson Yards
It seems like not many people are familiar with the Hudson Yards still, even though this opened back in 2019. Maybe because of the pandemic and its restrictions for traveling, a lot of tourist had not seen the famous vessel in the middle of the development, and the many stores you can find in this location.

But my favorite place is the Mercado Little Spain, located in the basement of the Hudson Yards mall. This market offers many typical Spanish (from Spain) options like tapas, paellas, churros, sangrias, etc.

The paella is just exquisite.

9) Get a coffee in Starbucks Reserve Roastery New York
Located in Chelsea, next to the Chelsea Market and close to The Little Island, High Line park and Pier 57, you can find the best Starbucks Reserve in the city. It is just a sensorial spectacle that would fascinate any coffee lover in the world.

With 3 levels including a Main Bar, Experience Bar, Scooping Bar, Arriviamo Bar, Roasting area, Shops, and a Princi, this place is just craxy for existing. Completely different experience than the one in the Empire State Building.

10) Eat local (or not so local) food
On the go? No worries, even though I showed so far a few places to eat, you can still enjoy the multiple food options in New York. From a Dominican place in Brooklyn:

To a quick orange chicken and noodles in Panda Express:

11) Take the Water Taxi along the river
Even if you are not using the water taxi to go to the next destination, you can take it during the sunset to get the most beautiful views of either the Hudson River or the East River. In my case, I planned a trip from Pier 11 in Downtown to North Williamsburg. The sunset was just so fantastic.

12) Enjoy the views!

Enjoy the views from wherever you are, there are many Observation Decks in New York like Rockefeller Center, One WOrld Trade Center, and the new SUMMIT One Vanderbilt and Edge Hudson Yards. But really just contemplate the beautiful views that this city has to offer.
