I Spent A Day Traveling From New York To Tokyo
Round The World Trip 2023
It was the start of my Round The World Trip 2023!
For the first time ever, I was going to have it as early as April, taking advantage of the Passover and Easter holidays. I usually would have my annual Round The World Trip in September during the other Jewish Holidays, or in Summer during vacations. The downfall of having a RTW in April was time. The Passover only lasts a week, and even asking for PTO, my trip extended to a low record of 13 days, in which I would be traveling to 4 countries and 6 cities. It was going to be a race, but I had planned enough to feel confident for about what was coming.
My trip started with a 14 hours 15 minutes flight from JFK in New York City, USA to Tokyo Haneda, Japan. It departed at 1:30 PM in JFK, and arrived the next day at 4:45 PM. Meaning I would lose a day already.
I took an Uber to JFK, went through customs and security, and bought some provisions for the trip, like water and food. I had downloaded hours of YouTube and Netflix videos for entertainment and had also brought a sleep mask and ear plugs to sleep at least 8 hours during this first flight.
JFK to HND
I knew they would serve lunch as soon as we reached the proper height, and since it was still noon for me, I decided not to sleep yet. When the meals arrived I chose the beef plate.

The meal was great for an Economy Flight, and very filling. After a couple of hours of watching Netflix and YouTube, and playing Two Dots, I fell asleep, and thankfully I did because by the time I woke up we were already very close to Japan, and had passed Canada and Alaska. It seemed the pilot deliberately avoided Russian waters.

The breakfast was good too, I mean I do not eat pizza for breakfast but it was welcomed after a long sleep.

Even though I slept very well on this flight, I was going to realize that my jet lag was going to kick in the next day making me sleepy in the middle of the day. Usually the body takes up to 3 days to get use to the new time change.

We were approaching quickly to Japan, and even though I had been here 3 times already in the past, I was so excited for my plans here, including Tokyo Disneyland, exploring Tokyo, Tokyo DisneySea, and everything you can find there, Universal Studios Japan, including its Super Nintendo World, and of course Osaka.

About to land in Tokyo.

And almost at sunset time, we arrived in Tokyo Haneda. The flight was a bit delayed, but made it through.

Welcome to Japan
The airport clearly knows how to welcome tourists.

And after a long immigration line, I was taking the train to downtown.

Pokemon Center
Very close to the Tokyo Station, you can find the Pokemon Cafe.

Even though it was very cute, and had a decent store (where I got some souvenirs), the cafe only accepts reservations, and they were all sold out for days in advance, so I recommend you to go to their website and get a reservation as soon as possible.

After that long trip, I was really hoping to get some delicious Pokemon shaped food lol.

Oh well, I got back down and waited for an Uber. I had forgotten they drive on the opposite site, and the Uber had so many screens. The guy literally had a whole TV screen in front of him with the map.

Hotel at Disney Resort
And finally, I arrived to the hotel. I decided to stay in the Disney Resort in Grand Nikko Tokyo Bay Maihama. A beautiful hotel with a lot of offerings.

The room was great for just a few nights.

The hotel had so many amenities in the lower level, including a wedding space and a big buffet for dinner and breakfast.

But if you want to see what I did in Japan, you can continue the story here.
