I Spent An Evening In The Wonderful Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan!

I had just spent 5 hours at Universal Studios Japan, but I had not been able to see the main attraction, the E ticket one: Super Nintendo World!

I had exhausted my Direct-In Express Ticket earlier in the day when I did The Flying Dinosaur and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. But I still had a timed entry to Super Nintendo World at 6:10 PM. When I got this Express Ticket on Klook, it automatically assigned the times, and thankfully those times work in my benefit. I was glad I did not wait to see if I could get a free Entry Ticket in the morning, because I arrived to late to the park and they were gone already.

Now that I had done only 5 attractions in around 5 hours, but some of the big ones, I was ready to go check in, and thankfully I was staying in City Walk, in The Park Front Hotel at Universal Studios Japan.

Time for a break

When I tried to check in in the morning I left my suitcase and rushed to the park, but fortunately I had already done the check in, so this time I just got the key and my bag and went to my room. To be honest, it was a great room considering the very low price for this location. Like they could spend a lot of money. I highly consider staying in this tower.

I had a great view of Universal City and just the next day I was going to check the restaurant right in front of the hotel: Takopa.

The bathroom was also very nice with the typical innovative Japanese functionalities lol.

I took a quick rest of about 45 minutes, since the next thing I wanted to do was seeing the Water World stunt show at 5:15 PM. Nothing like taking a break in the middle of your park day, even if it is the firs time visit them. I got ready again quickly, and went to Starbucks for a last boost of coffee. After Water World I was ready to go into the Super Nintendo World.

I passed security once again and they scanned my Klook ticket to get in. I walked very fast to the Water World show, afraid it was going to be full, but no, there was still plenty of time.

The show and the production were copy and paste of the one in Los Angeles, but always very nice to see these kind of stunt shows.

I was done with that show, and I was right next to Super Nintendo World, so I tried to sneak in showing my 6:30 PM timed entry ticket. It was 6:00 PM so they did not let me in. I feel like in US they would be less strict but oh well, I would come back.

Snack-y time

While I was going to get a snack I passed by Power of Pop: Trending, and I stopped because it was actually good. People were dancing.

To kill some time, I went back to the Mario Cafe and Store, just by the Hollywood Area.

I picked this time the Fruite Italian Pink Soda, also called Mario’s Strawberry Soda, because it was just so good, and it costs ¥700 (5 USD). In the US it would have cost at least 14 USD. What I was surprised is that the store closed at 6:15 PM, even though the park closes way later. So, be careful, if you want your Super Mario treats make sure to get them early in the day. A local guy actually asked me to buy him a Pancake Sandwich Mario’s Cap Strawberry Shortcake. He gave me ¥1,000 even it costs ¥700. When I got his snack, he did not accept the change. I had to keep it lol. He was so nice.

It was already sunset and past 6:30 PM, so I was already late for my Timed Entry for Super Mario World. This ticket allows you to enter within a 30 min period, but once in, you can spend all the time you want inside. Once you leave you cannot come back.

I passed by Jaws which I had ridden just a few hours before, really loved this ride, and it seems like at night it was gonna be lit.

After speed walking and passing the ticket entrance of the land I was finally in front of the very famous Super Nintendo World, the one and only reason to come to Osaka for this Round The World Trip. I was here and could not believe it.

After you pass the warp pipe, you get immersed in this spectacular land filled with sounds, music, characters, games, rides, food. It just has everuthing, and no wonder why it is also a hit in Universal Studios Hollywood and it is being built as of 2023 in Universal Studios Orlando: Epic Universe. I had personally been in the California one just a couple of months before, but this one was special, It is the original, the biggest and the most complete as of now.

I was so happy right now. I am such a big fan of the franchise, that I went to the premiere of The Super Mario Bros. Movie at 12:00 AM in New York City on the day I was traveling here to Japan. I sacrificed sleep to be able to get the movie experience before getting to know this amazing land.

All the characters were out and about and the land was crowded. Even with the free and paid Timed Entry Ticket, it seemed like people just decided to spend the day here. Even though this park has so many different nice lands, places and attractions in general, but this one was the champion.

Time to go ride Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge™, included in my paid Timed Entry Ticket, and I had just loved this attraction so much in Hollywood, that I was excited to go to the original one, although it was kind of confusing because even though the layout of the land is similar, this one is located on the back and on top of the land.

King Koopa is of course Bowser, and the attraction is derived from the succesful and addictive Mario Kart, and it is top notch. It uses advanced technology in augmented reality, prejection mapping and screen projection, combined with a physical set that makes you feel like you are actually on a Mario Kart ride.

The queue is very cool and you could find so many Easter eggs in it, from the games and the lore, probably thousands to be honest lol. Anna Vanston from New Rockstars did a great job explaining these Easters eggs for the copy and paste attraction in Hollywood.

After I was done with the great, intense but fun attraction, I was already starving once again and decided to visit Kinopio’s Café™.

It was so cute, and you could see the mushrooms working on the screens on the windows.

I decided to try the Super Mushroom Pizza Bowl with Mushroom Tomato Sauce for 1,600 yen (around 12 USD). It just tasted it like pizza and was delicious. I actually wated to take the bowl with me home, I was actually wondering if it was included in the price. But…. I left it there lol.

I was not done with the food options here, of course not. I now went to Yoshi’s Snack Island, in an isolated area of the land, to get my Yoshi’s Lassi.

I got the mango one for 700 yen, around 5 USD. The texture was a bit weird but it was yummy, I would completely recommend it. Otherwise, there are other flavors.

Good bye to a great park

There were many other things I could do in this land, but the late night was approaching really fast. I missed Yoshi’s Adventure, and doing all the games this land offers with the wrist band. I did not buy one, but when I come to any of my nephews, to this one or the Orlando one, I will probably get them and get those coins.

The park was so beautiful, crowded, lively, lit, and fun at night, that I did not want to leave, but it was going to close soon. I had done 6 major rides, had seen a major show: Water World, saw a lot of characters and ate a lot of delicious snacks. I felt fulfilled at least for this trip, but I know I have to come back to finish some of the remaining attractions.

Even though the park closed, people were still around the “City Walk” area. Tomorrow it was going to be my first day to relax from the parks, and to see more of what Osaka has to offer. See all that here.
