Day 6: An Epic Seafarer’s Delight on Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of The Seas
Day 6: Day at Sea – Chops Grille Reservation – Lobster Night/Formal Night
Yes, just like you read in the heading, today was a Day At Sea. After a rough night of the ship rocking a lot and moving fast towards the south, we were glad the waters were more calm this morning. It still felt a bit rocky though, and we were planning to just relax today. The only plans we had were the reservation at Chops Grille and Lobster Night but that was later today, for now, as we were just waking up, the plan was to go downstairs to the 4th deck, to Le Patisserie, and grab a couple of coffees before we got ready for the day.

We got ready for the gym, and headed there, just to burn some of the thousands of calories we eat and were going to eat still during this cruise. Vitality at Sea Fitness Center is located in the 16th Deck (the last one), at the front of the ship, right above our stateroom. Some people were already on the North Star, which is crazy to me because nothing could be seen, we were very out in the ocean.

After a good cardio, weights and machine session, we went to get some breakfast at Windjammer Marketplace in the 14th Deck.

It was formal night tonight, and it was a day at sea, but people were out and about looking for things to do. They were probably going to spend the next day packing and staying in after Victoria.

At the Solarium
All of the sudden I saw a lot of people going towards the windows, and just like I guessed, there were some whales swimming next to the ship. I mean, I had just spent a day seeing whales in Juneau, but this time it was kind of free and the small boat trying to look for them.

After finally getting ready for the day, we decided to spend a portion of it at the Solarium. I had tried to bring my mom here since Day 1, just for her to try the hot tubs. The Solarium is an area for just adults, and it has a bar, which we used to grab some drinks, part of our Beverage Package. Before heading into any wet areas, make sure to grab some towels, and even blankets at the station just outside of the Solarium by the pools. While drinking our mocktails we made some new friends at the hot tub. The entire moment was very relaxing, and rewarding after so many days on this cruise.

After a while we started feeling a little hungry, but this time we were just going to grab a little lunch, since we had a double dinner today, the Windjammer was the option this time.

Time for a little nap back in the stateroom, and then heading to the Music Hall in Deck 4, for the Harry Potter Trivia. As someone who has seen all the movies, and read all the books, I thought I was going to be better, but no, lol. I could not believe people actually got almost all the them correct. I took advantage of the bar in the Music Hall to get another Mocktail, and just after that, I went back to the stateroom to change into my formal night outfit.
Chops Grille

We had the reservation at Chops Grille, and this was the only additional paid restaurant reservation of the trip, for a few reasons. The recommendations of Chops Grille online are off the charts. A lot of people agree on at least coming here once, especially if your cruise is as long as this one. The other restaurants are not really attracting for me. Maybe next time I would go to either Wonderland or Jamie’s Italian. For 2 people, gratuites included, I paid $129.76, and that includes appetizer, main course and dessert. As per the server, you could chose up to 2 of each, but I was not sure it was always the case. Regardless, we were not going to eat a lot, since we still had the lobster in the Main Dining Room later tonight.

The ambiance in this restaurant was great, and it helped that it was formal night, since it seems like people were very elegant. For appetizer I chose the Tuna Tartare, that reminds me a lot of the one I had in the Disney Cruise I went in 2022, I would pick this dish all the time during that cruise, it was so good. And the one here in Ovation of the Seas, in Chops Grille, was not the exception, it is really an exceptional dish, great flavors overall.

I also ordered the king shrimp cocktail just because lol. I felt that the sea food was going to be lighter in the stomach, before getting the main course, and since this is a grill restaurant…

…of course I had to get some meat. I ordered medium rare, and the flavors were just amazing. The texture incredible. The meat would just melt in my mouth. 10/10 would recommend.

And to finish this gourmet experience, I got a chocolate lava cake for dessert, with some vanilla ice cream. Again, nice to way to end this spectacular dinner. No wonder why people recommend this restaurant so much. Look it up and make a reservation if it is available on your next cruise.

With our stomachs full, we decided to walk around before our second dinner of the night. The promenade was really alive with all the people wearing their best outfits and taking pictures by the main staircase. A lot of clothes and souvenirs were exposed also, and we took advantage of this to finally buy stuff from the cruise.
Formal Night

Finally back in the room a penguin was waiting for us at our bed, with the instructions for disembarkation and the luggage tags, in case we wanted to leave out suitcases in the hallway the next night.

The Beautiful Dream
At 8:00 PM we went to the Royal Teather and grabbed once again the worst seats of the place, to see the Production Showtime: The Beautiful Dream.

The play was cute but a little confusing, although they had some of the same performers from the Live. Love. Legs show. This is not the level of the Broadway shows in the Disney Cruises, but it is a good way to spend part of the night.

Lobster night
The lobster night was coming to an end, and we could not miss the free lobster tail at all. So we rushed to the Main Dining room where we had My Time Reservations, and got ourselves just the lobster. Just to be clear, the free lobster tail is only available on the 2nd formal night if any. Only one piece per person.

And to be honest, the lobster was way better than I expected. It was very buttery and melted in my tongue. Exquisite.

Obviously, to finish, we had some dessert, because there is always space for that, no?
As it was past 10 PM (my usual bedtime), we went to Boleros, since there was a Latin show tonight. We saw the friends we had met in the hot tub earlier and decided to hang out with them. We grabbed some mocktails and spent some time with the great music of the band.

The day at sea was coming to an end, and tomorrow we were docking in Victoria, Canada. I was excited to see this city for the first time, but also, I was excited for my mom to visit this country for the first time, even for a few hours. Today had been a great, and very productive day at sea. We did a lot, and ate a lot. And now I was just in my balcony contemplating the moon, which was very shiny just for us.
